lifeNotes 003 - Public Speaking
Welcome to my weekly notes, which I'm calling lifeNotes. This is the third edition.
The intention is simple. Aim for 3 bullet points per week. Do not think about structure or style for at least 20 notes. Go with the flow and aim to progress rather than perfection.
With these guidelines, let's go!
📊 I attended a Presentation Skills Training programme at work. It was one of the best training programmes I have attended, and it was no surprise that the provider was Dale Carnegie Company. As a stammerer, I have struggled with my speech most of my life. However, I felt calm and composed during the presentations and seemed to enjoy the training and presentation. I want to explore this strength of mine moving forward.
❤️ CBT is going well. I'm able to monitor and observe my thoughts. I observed how quickly I could recover from my low mood.
📖 I am currently reading Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman, and one key takeaway is doing something "Dailyish." This means not beating yourself up when you miss a day. I like the idea. I tend to become obsessive over tasks and berate myself when I miss a day or two. Moving forward, I intend to follow up with the "never miss two days" rule; missing one day is fine, but always pick up the pieces the next day.
